As a jeweller I get great pleasure in making my clients happy but it’s not often that I get formal recognition for my achievements, that is not what motivates me, but every now and again it’s really nice for someone to say “well done”.

Scottish Women in Business

This year Scottish Women in Business has been around for twenty five years yes twenty five years, and as such they are celebrating in style with an awards ceremony in Oran Mor, Glasgow.

Celebrating Woman

Celebrating Woman is their focus and there are several categories in which woman of achievement will be recognised. I am a finalist for the Innovator Category So fingers crossed that my innovative jewellery and business ideas will win through. All will be revealed on the 21st May at their special celebratory event….Tickets are still available, just saying. If you should wish to come along and support me and other celebrated women

Hi Helen

I wanted to let u know I’m delighted with the earrings you designed for me, really lovely & very nice to wear. I hope your show went well Regards, Renee

Bring your Past into the Present; The Circle of Life

Do you have jewellery that’s been passed down to you by a loved one?

TREASURED PIECES We all have treasured pieces of jewellery we no longer wear. Perhaps a ring that was a 21st birthday present?

We won’t part with them but styles and tastes change. Reacquaint yourself with the joy of these adored piece by giving them a contemporary twist.

You will never part with these keepsakes but you can’t enjoy them either if they are too outdated to wear. What better way to show your appreciation for an heirloom or a cherished gift than making a present of the past?

I can make bespoke jewellery from sentimental pieces that you have inherited. You retain the emotion behind the piece while giving a much loved brooch, bracelet or necklace a new lease of life.

The featured earrings were made from an unwanted  diamond ring which, if left in Renee’s drawer, had the value of scrap metal. The decision to have it remodelled not only gave Renee a fantastic pair of contemporary designer earrings but the value of them is now the current gold and diamond price. She has increased the value of that ring and  also has a lovely piece of jewellery to wear and treasure

Helen Swan Designer Jewellery has a range of Designer Necklaces, Rings, Earrings, Bangles and Designer Brooches all displaying Helen’s unique style.

I was recently approached by the Daily Record to talk about my recent transition from loving mum to designer, maker and owner of Helen Swan Designer Jewellery.

The  article appeared last Friday, in the Record Woman section of the Daily Record, beside other stories of mums who have started a new fulfilling businesses later in life.

This is a great time to do such a thing,  it’s stimulating, refreshing, and you can throw all your energy into it without distraction.

The Daily Record wanted a photograph of the three of us together, I sent them this one but unfortunately they did not print it so….

at the risk of really embarrassing my children Rowan and Cailean, I am showing you one of my favourite photographs of us.

I love being a mum but I also appreciate and love this opportunity that I now have.
